Sanitary products are a necessity for a lot of women, and sadly most are single use – made from plastic or part plastic, and packaged in plastic, and often incorrectly flushed down the toilet – reusable bamboo sanitary pads are an alternative, zero waste option. According to the European Commission, sanitary products are the 5th most common item found on beaches in Europe. Why is this an issue? Besides being unsightly and unhygienic. they can take 500 to 700 years to break down where they will remain as microplastics. Switching to these reusable sanitary pads can help to prevent this from happening.
These sanitary pads are made from three different materials:
- Bamboo charcoal for a dry and soft feeling as well as odour control
- Microfiber for maximum absorption and quick drying
- Waterproof PUL for best protection and slight elasticity
All of the sanitary pads have poppers on the wings so you can be confident that they will stay in place.
Light Flow: consist of one layer of microfibre. These will be able to protect you on the lighter days of your periods or for everyday protection.
Moderate Flow: medium sized with two layers of microfibre. They will provide support on the regular flow days of your periods.
Heavy Flow: made with three layers of microfibre for extra protection. They are reliable even on the heaviest days of your periods and during night-time. These larger pads can also work if you experience incontinence or post-partum bleeding.
Mixed pack also available: Contains one heavy flow, two medium flow and three light flow plus leakproof storage pouch, saving you over 25% off the individual prices!
Light Flow: pad area 19cm x 8cm (approx); total width to include the wings 18.5cm; Moderate Flow: pad area 24cm x 8.4cm (approx); total width to include the wings 18.8cm; Heavy Flow: pad area 30cm x 12cm (approx); total width to include the wings 17.2cm
How to use: When the pads are dry place the pad fleece side up, following the line of your underwear. Attach the snaps on the wings underneath so it is secured in place.
How to care for your sanitary pads:
We recommend that you wash your sanitary pad before using it for the first time.
Rinse the pads with cold water after use, leaving to soak for up to 30 minutes if necessary to help remove any stains (hot water can make stains set)
Wash them by hand or in your machine at 40 degrees. If you use a machine it’s ideal if you can wash inside a washing bag (or even a sock!) to keep them together and prevent them from becoming stuck in the door/seal of the machine.
